Detailed description of The Country Club

The Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Pepper Pike, Ohio.

The Country Club dates to 1889. The course as we know it today was designed by William S. Flynn and Howard Toomey who redesigned the original holes and added some new ones in 1931, and is the same layout that contested the 2012 U.S. Women’s Amateur, won by Lydia Ko.

In 1935, The Country Club’s still youthful course was the scene of the National Amateur Tournament, where Lawson Little completed his “little slam," winning both the British and United States Amateur titles in two successive seasons.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,937 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 567 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 174 yards from the back tees.

The course is somewhat hilly and has an extremely high cut of rough. Locals say the fairways are "narrow-to-tight," having been cut through a countryside setting. A creek comes into play on seven holes, and a large pond comes into play once.  The greens are generally small, sloped, undulating, and described as "definitely not flat."
